This is a sample privacy policy created specifically for Ember & Oak, a fictional fine-dining restaurant portfolio website. This document is provided for portfolio review and technical demonstration purposes only, not as legal advice or an enforceable privacy agreement for an active commercial business.
Introduction & Project Scope
Ember & Oak is a multi-page web demonstration built to showcase modern, accessible, frontend-only user experience design for a contemporary hearth restaurant. The project focuses on elegant typography, semantic HTML5 structure, responsive layout principles, and interactive client-side components.
Because this website operates strictly as a static frontend demonstration, there are no commercial transactions, active point-of-sale integrations, live table booking services, or private event contracts conducted through these pages. This document explains how browser interactions are handled within this demonstration environment.
Contact & Reservation Forms
The interactive forms found on our Contact page and Reservations page are frontend demonstrations engineered to illustrate client-side validation, accessible form error handling, and responsive state transitions:
- Local Confirmation Only: When you complete and submit either form with valid test information, the browser intercepts the submission event via JavaScript (
event.preventDefault()). A local confirmation card and summary table are rendered directly in the document. - No Backend Transmission: Form inputs are never transmitted to any web server, REST API, cloud function, database, CRM, third-party reservation manager (such as OpenTable or Resy), or restaurant email address.
- No Commercial Commitment: Submitting a reservation inquiry in this prototype does not reserve a physical seat, nor does it charge a deposit or communicate with any venue staff.
Client-side validation validates party size, calendar dates, dining areas, and guest notes. Confirmation is purely simulated in DOM memory.
Inquiry subject, guest message, and email fields are verified for format completeness and reflected in a local client-side review card.
Data Storage & Persistence
The client-side scripts running on this website (assets/js/main.js) do not intentionally save, persist, or cache submitted form records in any persistent client-side storage medium, including:
- Browser
localStorageorsessionStoragekeys - HTTP or document
cookies - IndexedDB or WebSQL local databases
- Server-side file storage, logs, or databases
Once you refresh the browser page, navigate away to another URL, or close the browser tab, all form values and simulated confirmation cards return to their initial blank state.
Third-Party Resources & CDNs
To provide high-quality typography, responsive styling, and scalable iconography, this website loads select assets from public Content Delivery Networks (CDNs). When your browser downloads these assets, the respective third-party providers automatically receive standard technical transmission metadata.
We do not claim that absolutely no information leaves the browser. While our application scripts do not collect or dispatch personal details, network requests made to external hosting networks inevitably convey technical parameters such as:
- Your device’s IP address
- Your browser User-Agent header (browser type, operating system, version)
- The referring URL (`referer` header)
- Request timestamp and protocol metadata

External Links & Third-Party Services
This website may contain hyperlinks directing visitors to third-party web destinations, such as demonstration social media profiles (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter), open-source code repositories, or third-party mapping utilities.
When you click an external link, you leave the Ember & Oak demonstration environment. Third-party websites have independent privacy policies, terms of service, and cookie management practices. We encourage you to review their respective privacy notices upon arriving on external domains.
Security & Form Submission Limitations
While this website uses modern frontend standards and secure CDN resources, it remains an educational portfolio demonstration rather than an enterprise web application. As such, the forms are designed exclusively for mock testing.
Do not enter real, confidential, or sensitive personal information into any field on this website. This includes credit card details, payment credentials, personal identity numbers, passwords, or confidential dietary/medical records.
Policy Changes & Maintenance
This sample policy statement may be updated periodically as the portfolio codebase is refined, refactored, or enhanced with additional frontend features. If new static assets, accessibility enhancements, or demonstration forms are introduced, this document will be amended to accurately reflect those changes.
